After Ukraine’s Kakhovka Dam Disaster, a Hunt for Ancient Treasures
A bonanza of artifacts was revealed after the Kakhovka dam was blown up.

Anatolii volkov, a young Ukrainian man, walked down a riverbank one summer evening, as the sun set behind the Dnipro River. This massive waterway bisects Ukraine.
Volkov, a Ukrainian archaeologist looked like he was taking a walk. He was examining the dried up ground of an old reservoir, which revealed a treasure of artifacts. A catastrophic explosion at Kakhovka Dam sent 4.8 trillion gallons gushing downstream. The water then emptied the reservoir.
