At least nine killed in stampede at El Salvador stadium

The National Civil Police (PNC), which is the national police in El Salvador, announced on Twitter that at least nine people died and a number of others were injured in a stampede Saturday morning in the Cuscatlan Stadium.

The PNC reported that 'the first information points towards a stampede by fans who attempted to enter the stadium to watch the Alianza-FAS match'.

On Twitter, Salvadoran Health Minister Francisco Alabi announced that emergency teams were deployed and injured patients are being transferred to local hospital.

The most popular teams in Central America are Alianza and FAS.
