Inmate facing murder charge escapes California medical center

Authorities in California have launched a search for a prisoner accused of murder who escaped from a medical facility in Placer County on Sunday morning.

Roseville Police are warning people to exercise extreme caution if they come across Eric J. Abril. He was shirtless, and wearing 'orange jail pants' as he fled from Sutter Medical Center.

The 35-year old faces murder, attempted murder, and kidnapping related charges.

Roseville Police and the Sheriff's Office said that a park in Roseville was closed Sunday.

The suspect Abril, last seen by video surveillance in Rocklin in the vicinity of Rainier Ct. at approximately 3:39 am, was then seen walking northbound in the vicinity of Saddletree Ln.

Roseville Police said in a post on Facebook.

We ask that the public exercise extreme caution, and call 911 immediately if Abril can be seen.

Abril faces 'charges for murder, kidnapping with bodily injury, and attempted murder against a policeman, among others, as it relates a Roseville park shooting which occurred on April 6,'

Abril is also charged with personal discharge of firearms, along with other charges.

It is alleged that the defendant tried to murder a police officer in a Roseville park. This resulted in several injuries and one death. Abril is also accused of kidnapping a victim and causing them bodily harm, as well as murdering another victim during a kidnapping. The complaint includes an allegation of possessing a firearm as a felon and that he had been convicted of violent or serious crimes in the past.
