Amazon is closing its drone delivery operations in Lockeford, California, one of the early test sites for the Prime Air project. The program has faced challenges since its announcement in 2013, seeking to deliver lightweight packages via autonomous drones within 30 minutes. Despite the closure, Amazon plans to expand drone deliveries to more US cities in 2025 and aims to operate in the Phoenix area later this year. The company is working with relevant authorities for approvals. Amazon is currently conducting test flights to demonstrate the reliability of its new delivery drone, the MK30.
