Asia-Pacific Markets Rise on Wall Street Rebound #

Asia-Pacific markets saw gains as they followed Wall Street’s rebound from earlier this week. Investors responded positively to comments by US Federal Reserve Chairman Jerome Powell, indicating that a rate cut in March was unlikely. South Korea recorded year-on-year CPI growth of 2.8%, slightly below expectations. Australia’s S&P/ASX 200 rose 0.77% ahead of the release of its Q4 producer price index. Japan’s Nikkei 225 and Topix also rebounded, while South Korea’s Kospi and Kosdaq gained. Futures for Hong Kong’s Hang Seng index indicate a stronger open.
