Reddit, the social media company, plans to offer select users the opportunity to become shareholders during its upcoming IPO. This move is unusual as IPO shares are typically reserved for institutional investors. Reddit will invite users based on their engagement on the platform, either as moderators of forums or their karma score. Users who do not receive an invitation can pre-register to buy shares. The IPO direct share program is open to adult US Reddit users who are not current or former employees. Reddit has not yet announced the IPO share price. Despite not having a profit in its history, Reddit’s losses have been narrowing, and its sales and daily active users have increased.
