High School Principal’s Final Wishes Honored After Court Ruling #
Lynne Chesley, a high school principal, was faced with a devastating diagnosis of a degenerative disease. Prior to her condition worsening, Chesley had signed a legal document clearly stating her desire not to have her life prolonged through artificial means.
Despite her wishes, she spent over three years with a feeding tube as her family members engaged in a legal battle over her medical care. The impasse was resolved when the Oklahoma Supreme Court ruled in favor of respecting her initial directives. Following the court’s decision, Chesley passed away in August, with her final wishes at last honored.
