The United Auto Workers expanded its strike against Detroit's car companies in a surprise action that hit Chrysler-parent Stellantis.

The United Auto Workers expanded their strike against Detroit car companies on Monday by closing down a truck plant. This was a surprise move that affected Chrysler parent Stellantis’s largest U.S. facility.
The Ram 1500 pickup truck is made by the 6,800 workers at the Sterling Heights, Mich. plant in the suburb of Detroit. It's one of the most profitable automakers. UAW reported that the walkout brought the number of UAW members on strike across Detroit automakers Ford Motor, General Motors and others to over 40,000.
