US fighter jet crashes in South Korea

The US military said that a US F-16 fighter plane crashed on Saturday during training near a US major military base in South Korea.
The US Air Force in South Korea released a statement that said the jet, assigned to the 8th Fighter Wing 'crashed' in an agricultural area close to Osan Air Base around 9:45 am local time.
The military reported that the pilot safely ejected from the aircraft and was taken to the nearest medical facility. According to the military, no civilians were injured in the incident.
Kim Dong-yeon, South Korea's governor of Gyeonggi Province wrote on Twitter that the local fire department had been dispatched to put out the fire.
The military stated that the pilot was taking part in a routine flight of training, and added that an investigation is underway.
